Calculate your caloric needs
Your body needs energy to carry out daily activities. This energy comes from the foods we eat. These foods are measured in units of calories. The following calculator is to be used for maintenance.
Understanding Caloric Needs
Not all calories are the same. Calories derived from mostly sugar or fat do not carry the same nutritional value as more wholesome choices. If you ate sugar all day and nothing else, you would not survive – your body would not get the needed nutrients to flourish.
When possible, choose foods that have high micronutrient contents for their calorie count.
